Overkill @ Trabendo, Paris - April 26th, 2023

Overkill is back in Paris in support of their excellent new album Scorched. Last time they played here was almost exactly four years ago, in this very venue. Despite the absence of beloved bassist D.D. Verni (he was replaced by Christian "Speesy" Giesler, formerly of Kreator), Overkill was firing on all cylinders, playing sections from the new album as well as a slew of classics from the 80's and 90's like Horrorscope, Coma or Hello From The Gutter.

Exhorder @ Trabendo, Paris - April 26th, 2023

Second on this old-school Thrash Metal bill is the legendary Exhorder, hailing from New Orleans and representing the groovier side of the scene. Like the other bands on the marquee, they are down one member, but they have opted to not replace him. Thankfully the other three make enough racket to compensate for the absence bassist Jason Viebrooks.

Heathen @ Trabendo, Paris - April 26th, 2023

Another crushing bill with three legends of American Thrash Metal. The first of this Triple Thrash Threat (there was also an Croatian band called Kheops, but we only caught the end of their set and quite frankly, this sounds better with the alliteration) was Bay Area perennial underground dwellers Heathen, who delivered a killer set generous on these old-school vibes we all love.

O.R.K. @ O'Sullivan's Backstage by The Mill, Paris

Neo-prog supergroup O.R.k is back in Paris, four years after their last concert in the French capital. In the mean time of course, the world changed and the pandemic drastically reshuffled the cards for musicians and the audience and this short tour is the first time they have played together since 2019. They are touring behind their new album, last year's Screamnasium, which constitutes the bulk of the setlist.

Steve Hackett & Genesis Revisited @ La Seine Musicale, Boulogne-Billancourt - April 19th, 2023

It's been less than a year and a half since Steve Hackett's last concert in Paris yet the relatively new concert hall (it was inaugurated by Bob Dylan nearly six years ago to the day) was absolutely packed. That's because Hackett and his Genesis Revisited project are the best way to hear this wonderful catalogue live. No offense to tribute band The Musical Box, which does a fantastic job, but the authenticity and the legitimacy that the guitarist brings to the performance can't be replicated by cover bands, no matter how industrious or talented.

Macklemore @ ZĂ©nith, Paris - April 18th, 2023

American Rap superstar Macklemore played the first of two sold-out shows in Paris in support of his latest album Ben last night at the ZĂ©nith in front of a crowd of 6000 people.

Metallica's new album 72 Seasons is out today! Listen to it here.

The seven-year wait is over. Metallica is back with 72 Seasons, their first album since 2016's Hardwired... To Self-Destruct. While it's unlikely to rival Ride The Lightning in the hearts of fans, or take the world by storm like 1991's self-titled "Black Album", any release by the Heavy Metal juggernaut is a momentous event.

You can listen to the album in the embedded Apple Music player below and let us know what you think in the comments or on our socials

Watch Metallica's performance of Master Of Puppets on Jimmy Kimmel Live and pre-save their new album here

Heavy Metal juggernaut Metallica is releasing their new album 72 Seasons tomorrow and they're hyping the release by playing a week-long "residency" at the Jimmy Kimmel Live talk show. Last night, they played their anthem, the absolute classic Master Of Puppets...

Released in 1986 on the album of the same name, it is rightly considered one of the foundations of Heavy Metal as we know it today. The younger generations might be familiar with the tune since its inclusion in the latest season of the Netflix show Stranger Things. At once brutal and melodic, it is an unstoppable, unrivaled block of Progressive Thrash Metal. You can check out the performance in the embedded YouTube video below.

The Last Internationale @ Trabendo, Paris - April 10th, 2023

If you've been going to concerts in the last decade, no doubt you've already seen The Last Internationale somewhere. They've been opening for acts like The Who, KISS and played every major European festival.

Taipei Houston @ Trabendo, Paris - April 10th, 2023

Taipei Houston are a duo comprised of brothers Layne and Myles Ulrich on bass and drums respectively, who just released their debut album Once Bit Never Bored last year. Given the format, it's no wonder that their music is very reminiscent of Royal Blood: a mix of punk-flavored alternative with a little metal thrown in for good measure. The brothers, after all, are the sons of Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich...
