Another crushing bill with three legends of American Thrash Metal. The first of this Triple Thrash Threat (there was also an Croatian band called Kheops, but we only caught the end of their set and quite frankly, this sounds better with the alliteration) was Bay Area perennial underground dwellers Heathen, who delivered a killer set generous on these old-school vibes we all love.
Unfortunately, guitarist and band leader Lee Altus (who also plays in Exodus) was unable to join the band on tour, but his replacement, Invicta's Kyle Edissi, did an fantastic job filling in. Thankfully, historical member David White was on vocals to bring some legitimacy to this band calling itself Heathen.
Through line-up changes, break-ups, deaths and shifting musical trends, Heathen have been at it for nearly forty years on and off. That's forty years of honing their craft, forty years of carrying the torch, forty years being a part of a scene where the audience is as demanding as it is loyal. Basically, if you serve them quality Metal like Opiate Of The Masses, Hypnotize or other classics, they will forever be a part of your cult.
