Electric Eye - Rock & Roll Memories: Halestorm @ La Cigale, Paris

Last year's Halestorm show opening for Alter Bridge was undoubtedly excellent but left the Paris audience hungry for more. This headlining set in support of 2022's Back From The Dead was a much more satisfying affair for the band's fans who came out in droves: the place was sold out, thanks in part to a very attractive concert package which included a strong support slot by none other than Black Veil Brides and relative newcomer Mothica, which turned the City of Lights into the City of Loud.

Steeped firmly in the classic Hard Rock sounds and aesthetics, Halestorm delivered a tantalizing set of ferocious yet melodic Rock/Metal hybrid. Killer riffs, face-melting solos, catchy anthemic choruses and the most captivating frontwoman of her generation.

With her unparalleled stage presence and a voice that could shatter glass, Lzzy proved why she's not just a fascinating frontwoman but also the ultimate rock chick. Embracing her role model status with a dash of rock n' roll humor, she took the responsibility seriously, encouraging a sea of young women in attendance (and trust us, there were plenty) to unleash their inner rock goddesses and rock out with their… socks out, I guess?

They played quite a few numbers from Back From The Dead but also a litany of their classics like Freak Like Me, Love Bites (So Do I), I Get Off, Familiar Taste Of Poison, Rock Show... I still tend to think of the band as a new act, but they've now been around nearly fifteen years and have amassed quite the catalogue. The audience gathered in the venerable theater located in the Red Light District of Paris sang along to every word, head-banged to every riff an air-guitared to every guitar solo. Halestorm are no longer the promising young band: they are tomorrow's legends.
