After a shot of of tradition with the old-school thrash titans Kreator, the next generation of sonic offenders proceeded to put the Parisian audience out of its misery. Lamb Of God delivered a devastating set that took aural brutality to another level.
Live, Lamb of God are twice as ferocious as on record, without losing the surgical precision they are known for. Randy Blythe is the quintessential modern metal frontman, intense and focused, channeling his anger into demented shrieks and growls. Mark Morton is basically Dimebag 2.0, unleashing twisted riffs and face-melting solos without losing sight of the groove.
To describe Lamb of God in concert, the best metaphor I can think of is a giant, heavy metal boulder tumbling down a mountain, picking up speed as it crushes everything in its way. The fact that 2000 metal freaks paid to stand in the way of that boulder last night will only shock those who haven't been paying attention.
