Kreator @ Olympia, Paris - February 27th, 2023

Even though they haven't had the commercial success of their American counterparts, Kreator just might just be the ultimate Thrash band: they have Slayer's intensity, Megadeth's progressive song structures, Metallica's sense of melody and Exodus' gnarly-ass riffs. Their triumphant return to Paris, after three years of postponements, in a sold-out Olympia packed to the brim with metal maniacs, was an event not to be missed.

The old-school Teutonic Thrash legends played a crushing set featuring several numbers off of their excellent new album Hate Ãœber Alles, including this reviewer's personal favorite Midnight Sun which they performed with German singer Sofia Portanet, and a slew of vintage classics like Pleasure To Kill or Endless Pain.

It took about half a song for moshers and crowd-surfers to start doing their thing, quickly followed by the usual circle pits and walls of death, setting the bar extremely high for Lamb Of God's set to follow.
