It’s always a blast to spend some time with the European Metal Queen herself, Doro Pesch, and her opening act for Alice Cooper was no exception. Clad head-to-toe in black leather, Doro commanded the stage with a mix of raw energy and relentless enthusiasm that could put most frontmen to shame.
Most of the setlist was culled from her Warlock days, giving fans exactly what they came for: a barrage of cartoonish metal anthems, delivered with all the subtlety of a Teutonic sledgehammer. Songs like “All We Are” and “Burning the Witches” are as much about fist-pumping fun as they are about serious musicianship, but that’s part of Doro’s charm.
Sure, it’s cheesy at times, but her unapologetic embrace of metal’s over-the-top nature only makes it more enjoyable. By the time she was done, the crowd was thoroughly warmed up and ready for Alice. A great opening act that set the tone for a night of headbanging.
