Jared James Nichols seems to be a perpetually on the road. Barely six months have passed since his headlining gig at Le Café de la Danse, and now he's kicking off the show for Mr. Big at Le Bataclan. We first took notice of him nearly nine years ago when he opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd, and we've seen him several times since opening for various artists.
All that relentless touring is clearly paying off. The audience appeared well-acquainted with his tunes, and even if they weren't, it was hard to resist the infectious energy of his foot-stomping, heavy bluesy music. Nichols channels the essence of American power trios from the '70s like Mountain (he brought the house down with a blistering rendition of "Mississippi Queen"), early Grand Funk Railroad, and others of the ilk.
His latest self-titled album is absolutely killer and you'd be well inspired to give it a spin. And make sure to catch him live whenever he hits your area, which knowing his schedule, will be any day now!
