Paris wasn't just another stop in Luke Combs' highly successful tour: this sold-out theater date was his very first concert in France and also the smallest venue he's played in forever. Consequently, the place was packed to the gills with American expats and fans who travelled to the French capital just to be able to see him in this intimate setting, rather than the stadiums he is used to filling in his home country.
From this side of the ocean, it's difficult to appreciate just how many hits he's had, until you are in a venue full of people dancing and loudly singing every line to every song, some of which have already become classics of the Country music canon: Lovin' On You, Where The Wild Things Are, Beer Never Broke My Heart... His selection of covers was also on point: tunes by David Lee Murphy, Diamond Rio, and of course his hit version of Tracy Chapman's Fast Car.
For a little over ninety minutes, Luke Combs and his band of killer musicians turned this historical concert hall in the red light district of Paris into a honky-tonk party, with Stetsons and beer replacing the usual berets and red wine.
