Boston-based Nine Ice Kills was tasked with the unenviable position of opening the first of two Metallica shows at the Stade de France, in the suburbs of Paris.
On record, their Emo Metalcore isn't unpleasant, but on Metallica's massive in-the-round stage, in the middle of an enormous stadium, in full daylight, they failed to impress a crowd the crowd that had started to amass in anticipation of the legendary headliners. They also insisted on executing some theatrics that were completely lost on everyone, even on the eight giant screens above the stage.
It's unfair to judge any artist playing in such conditions, and hopefully we'll get to see them in a better setting, headlining their own show.
