Crushing set by the Floridans of Trivium who manage to remain melodic (well, somewhat melodic) while delivering absolute heaviness and brutality...
Matt Heafy is a charismatic frontman and a killer guitarist. The guitar team he forms with Cory Beaulieu is very harmonically reminiscent of Iron Maiden, and their epic singalong choruses make them one of the more "accessible" bands of the extreme metal scene.
I guess I never realized how popular they were, because the Olympia was packed to the gills and the audience went apeshit from the very first note until the very last. Moshing, crowd surfing, walls of death, circle pits and just good ol' fashioned head banging... All the mainstays of a modern metal show were on display in the fired up crowd, galvanized by those tantalizing riffs, heavy grooves and triumphant melodies.
An absolute blinder of a gig full of beer, hair, tattoos and leather. The epitome of Heavy fucking Metal.
