Quite the Metal marquee tonight at the venerable Olympia theater. Malevolence, Obituary, Heaven Shall Burn and Trivium brought the Parisian crowd to its proverbial knees. Unfortunately, we missed the very first band as they started at 6:30 in the afternoon... I get that it's week day and people can't stay out too late, but 6:30 for a metal show is fucking ludicrous.
The second opening act of the evening is the mighty Obituary, the Death Metal legends from the swamps of Florida, who were unfortunately only given under an hour to unleash their putrid riffs and cadaveric grooves. We hadn't seen them since a memorable night in 2015 and to say that they killed would be an understatement: they slaughtered the audience, buried them, left them to rot slowly, and then raised them from the dead only to slaughter them again.
