After a shot of of tradition with the old-school thrash titans Kreator, the next generation of sonic offenders proceeded to put the Parisian audience out of its misery. Lamb Of God delivered a devastating set that took aural brutality to another level.

Kreator @ Olympia, Paris - February 27th, 2023
Even though they haven't had the commercial success of their American counterparts, Kreator just might just be the ultimate Thrash band: they have Slayer's intensity, Megadeth's progressive song structures, Metallica's sense of melody and Exodus' gnarly-ass riffs. Their triumphant return to Paris, after three years of postponements, in a sold-out Olympia packed to the brim with metal maniacs, was an event not to be missed.

Listen to Durand Jones' first solo single here
Durand Jones is the frontman and one of the main songwriters of Durand Jones & the Indications, the best classic Soul outfit to have come out in the past decade. We saw them play at the Trabendo a little over three years ago and they were absolutely fantastic.

Jesse Malin @ la Boule Noire, Paris - February 18th, 2023
Has it really been twenty years since Jesse Malin released his debut album The Fine Art Of Self Destruction? That's what my calendar says. But then why is that record still so vital and so relevant today? Because, like all great rock n' roll, it's both timeless and of its time. Imagine a cocktail made up in equal parts of Mike Ness, Nikki Sudden, Bruce Springsteen and Mike Scott with a dash of Johnny Thunders and Frank Sinatra...

Eagle-Eye Cherry @ la Maroquinerie, Paris - February 17th, 2023
Eagle-Eye Cherry has always been pretty popular here in France, so perhaps it's no surprise that la Maroquinerie was sold-out for his first concert in the French capital in nearly four years. In fact, there was barely any room to move around the club: the audience was squeezed in, shoulder to shoulder, bu no one was complaining. That's because it's quite a privilege to see such a popular artist in such an intimate setting.

It was announced yesterday that the great composer Burt Bacharach has passed away at the age of 94. His association with lyricist Hal David has produced some of the most popular and enduring songs of all time. Literally hundreds of hits for artists like Jackie DeShannon, Dusty Springfield, Aretha Franklin, B.J. Thomas, the Carpenters...

Tarja Turunen @ la Cigale, Paris - February 6th, 2023
We've lost count of how many times this concert was postponed, but thankfully things are returning to a semblance of normalcy. This tour sees Tarja promoting her 2019 album In The Raw, backed by a stellar band comprised of Christian Kretschmar on keyboards, Max Lilja on cello, Alex Holzwarth on drums, Alex Scholpp on guitar and superstar Doug Wimbish on bass.

Robert Jon & the Wreck @ la Maroquinerie, Paris - February 5th, 2023
Robert Jon & the Wreck are back in Paris, a mere 16 months after their last show in the French capital, and once again they brought the house down with their brand of funky, sun-drenched Californian classic rock with Southern accents.
Meghan Parnell & Dave Barnes from Bywater Call @ la Maroquinerie, Paris - February 5th, 2023
Bywater Call is a blues/rock septet in the vein of the Tedeschi/Trucks Band. Travelling with such a big ensemble can be quite costly, especially when opening for someone else so the band has deputized its vocalist and guitarist to tour as a duo.

Trivium @ Olympia, Paris - February 1st, 2023
Crushing set by the Floridans of Trivium who manage to remain melodic (well, somewhat melodic) while delivering absolute heaviness and brutality...
