Rosalie Cunningham @ la Maroquinerie, Paris - June 18th 2022

Opening for the Sheepdogs on this unbearably hot night was Rosalie Cunningham and her band. Like the headliner, her music is a throwback to the sixties and seventies but where the Sheepdogs harken back to an American sound, Rosalie Cunningham is more indebted to British psychedelia.

Sounding like a cross between Comus, the Yardbirds and early Deep Purple, Rosalie Cunningham and her band won over the French crowd with their lysergic sound and elaborate yet catchy compositions, featuring Cunningham's distinctive vocals and fretwork accompanied by a lead guitarist, a drummer and a keyboard player.

If you were a fan of her previous band Purson, then her solo career is in the same vein, only better. This was the perfect opener for a perfect night out on this unbelievably hot June evening.
