The Rolling Stones reissue campaign is once again heating up, with Tattoo You now getting the super duper extra deluxe treatment, complete with out-takes, left out tracks and other unnecessary artefacts that fans like me can't wait to spend their hard-earned cash to lap up frantically.
This song is a cover of a soul classic by the Chi-Lites off of their I Like Your Lovin' (Do You Like Mine?) LP from 1970.
Tattoo You was famously stitched together from various sessions over a decade, yet still manages to sound like a cohesive record. This unessential track probably wouldn't have sounded out of place on it, but also adds nothing to the album that is considered by many to be the last Rolling Stones true classic. But it is a welcome treat to hear a fresh track from the 70's Stones, so let's not deny ourselves this pleasure on account of it being a footnote in the band's canon.
The band has been in the news a lot lately due to the unfortunate passing of Charlie Watts last August and the resumption of their No Filter tour, the first one without the beloved drummer. You can listen to our Charlie Watts Playlist from Friday, September 17th HERE.
