Friday's Playlist: Symphonic Metal

I've been looking at the stars a lot in the past few nights. I was on vacation on the South West coast of France and the nights are incredible. Breathtaking sunsets, shooting stars, constellations reflected on the ocean... A wondrous sight for sure, but all of it can be quite intimidating. It can make you feel small, puny, like you don't matter. And the truth is you don't. So whenever you feel like you are merely an inconsequential speck of dust in the immensity of the universe, you can listen to some empowering, life-affirming, epic music.

That's right, we have the antidote to your existential crisis right here: overblown pomposity. So, it might not be the most subtle music around... But this isn't the point. This is grandiose, bombastic shit. It's made to inspire and motivate and hopefully this is what it'll do to you. Enjoy these long, majestic, progressive  pieces. Best listened to with a viking helmet on your head as you pretend to march into battle.
