Anthrax @ Elysée-Montmartre, Paris - March 16th, 2017

Thrash Metal is experiencing an unexpected resurgence, thanks to some excellent new records from some of their forbearers. In the past couple of years, Exodus, Testament, Overkill, Kreator, Slayer Megadeth,  and Metallica have all released some great records true to their roots. Anthrax' For All Kings is also a fantastic release, full of chugging riffs, pummelling beats and awesome melodies.
But they only played two songs off of that record, as they are also celebrating the 30th anniversary of Among The Living which they are playing in full. So it's a great setlist. We can always complain that there was only two songs from State of Euphoria and one from Spreading the Disease, or that they are now bypassing the John Bush era entirely (Only remains one of their best songs) but nothing will ever please everyone. It was a great night of re-capturing the sights, sounds and smells of the mid-eighties metal scene. For 90 minutes we were all a little younger, a little thinner, a little less bald... And today we're a whole lot deafer.
