Charli XCX @ Trabendo, Paris - February 19th, 2015

Something different for a change, it's good to challenge oneself and see what the kids are listening to these days. The experience was little uncomfortable as I was really out of place, a 36 year-old man in a venue filled with teenage girls... That wasn't a good look.
Charli XCX is the latest product to come out of the prefab pop-star assembly line, and she has already tasted success thanks to her collaborations with Icona Pop and Iggy Azalea. To say that this isn't exactly my cup of tea would be an understatement, although in all impartiality she is pretty good at what he does. Her songs are quite good and she seems to have an edge to her that most of her pop contemporaries do. She doesn't have the most distinctive voice but it's not unpleasant at all.  If I had a twelve year-old daughter she could find worse things to listen to in order to rebel against her lame Dad's Classic Rock obsessions. I'm curious to see if she blows up and becomes the superstar she is obviously training to be, or if the bubble will burst.
