Maceo Parker @ Cité de la Musique, Paris - September 4, 2014

"Maceo! I Want You To Blow!" This is how the Godfather of Soul used to exhort young Maceo to take one of his funky choruses, and if he didn't comply or if he ever got it wrong there was no telling what would happen. But that would never happen, because Maceo Parker is a human metronome. That's not to say he is robotic, in fact his groove knows no equal.

Decades later, after several stints with the Horny Horns, Parliament and his own solo career, he is still  out there, preaching The One to the masses. Another ex-P-Funk alumnus is manning the bass: Billy "Bass" Nelson, whose grooves are even fatter thant he is. And on guitar, Bruno Speight from the S.O.S. Band. In fact the whole band is top-notch but you wouldn't expect any less. But Maceo is the star, the boss. A born entertainer, who can sing and dance but whose greatest talent is still to blow that sax until you lose your mind. And with songs like Off The Hook, Shake Everything You've Got or Pass The Peas, you are guaranteed to lose it. Primal, fun, funky... This is the hottest party in town. Free your mind and your ass will follow.
