The Rolling Stones @ Hippodrome de Longchamp, Paris -July 1st, 1995

You don't forget your first Rolling Stones concert. It's crazy to think that they were already considered ancient but that Mick and Keith were only 51. Charlie was 54. Ronnie was 48!

Bon Jovi opened and they played a disappointing set comprised of several covers and a handful of their greatest hits. Little Steven came to jam with them, but even that couldn't save a lackluster show.

The Rolling Stones however were majestic, from the opening of Not Fade Away to the frantic Rocks Off (which they had to start over because they were playing it too darn fast!), quite a few tracks from their then-current album Voodoo Lounge, some deep cuts like Monkey Man... It didn't even matter that the band and the audience was soaked by a thunderstorm: it was the world's greatest Rock n' Roll band doing what it does best. Unforgettable.
